It was a dream of the Founder to establish a women’s medical college in the Hospital complex. With a view to fulfill the dream and to uplift the medical education among the women, Kumudini Women’s Medical College (KWMC) was established in 2001. The motto of the students get enrolled here is, “Serve the society, serve the nation.” With our experience in the field of health and education we believe that it is our moral responsibility to promote medical services and to make doctors committed to the nation. We train our girls to be directly associated with our patients. We want them to play an active role in our village programs, where the doctors and the nurses of the hospital and the students of the medical college work together at the grass root level.
Initially, in 2001, it only had permission to admit 50 students per batch. It, now, enrolls 100 students per batch and in total there are 552 students currently studying in the institution. From the very beginning it was a full residential college with all the modern facilities. KWMC has now three different hostels- Jaya Bhaban, Bijoya Bhaban, and Amiya Bala Bhaban that accommodate approximately 650 students. A number of foreign students, approximately 80, from India’s Kasmir and West Bengal and Nepal are now studying in the Medical College. KWMC has produced a total number of 255 Doctors who are now working in different Hospital and Medical centers successfully.
The main objectives of KWMC are to materialize the dream of the founder of Kumudini Welfare Trust
